Around the state
___ Baptist Student Union alumni of West Texas A&M University will meet July 11-13 at the Baptist Student Ministries building across the street from the university. The reunion schedule will begin with a dinner Friday evening at the alumni banquet hall on campus. Saturday will include fellowship, a group photo, memorial service and barbecue dinner. A vespers service and lunch at a local restaurant are planned for Sunday. ___ First Church in Cameron, 150th, March 27-30. Evangelistic services are planned for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, concluding with a two-hour service Sunday morning. Former pastor Ted Gross will preach Thursday evening; former staff member Bill Gravell Friday; former pastors Finis Beauchamp and James Pool Saturday; and former pastors L.L. Morriss, James Lafferty and Vernon Dietrich Sunday. Former minister of music Phil Smith will lead the music for the evening services, while David Kirby will lead Sunday morning. Gross, Kirby and James Dickson will perform with the worship choir. A noon meal will follow the Sunday service. Tickets for the meal are $7 per person or $25 per family. ___Deaths
___ Wayne Flory, 77, Feb. 15 in Saginaw. Flory was a World War II naval veteran and a retired pastor. During more than 50 years of ministry he was pastor of six churches in Texas and Kansas and also worked for the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Following his retirement, he worked with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department and served as chaplain and funeral assistant at a funeral home since 1989. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashleigh Flory, and great-grandson, Jacob Finch. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye; sons, Gary, Terry, Lewis and David; daughter, Debra Raindl; brothers, Gene and Cecil; great-aunt, Oma King; and 15 grandchildren.
___ David Garza, 51, Feb. 19 in San Benito. He was minister of music at Island Baptist Church on South Padre Island. He is survived by his mother, Ninfa Garza; and brother, Federico Garza.

___Events
___ First Mexican Church in Dallas held a Bible conference Feb. 7-9. Instructors for the conference were Joshua Grijalva, retired president of the Hispanic Baptist Theological School in San Antonio, and Chaplain Marcos Castro of the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. All ages were included in the conference which focused on 1 Corinthians in both Spanish and English. Jesus Santamaria was the chairperson of the conference. Robert Casares, minister to youth at First Church in Stockdale, was the soloist.
___ Vision 4, a Southern gospel quartet, will be in concert at Immanuel Church in Marshall March 16 at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken.
___ Rainbow Hills Church in San Antonio seeks youth and single adults who attended the church from 1975 through 1985. A reunion will be held at the church July 11-13.
