___ Bowman to lead Hope for Home. Carol Ricks Bowman has been named Hope for Home coordinator with the Baptist General Convention of Texas' Christian Life Commission. Bowman had worked with the Hope for Home emphasis part-time. She has led Clear Stream Inc. in customer relationship management and strategic organizational change. Previously, she held vice presidential posts with two software companies and was marketing director for the federal employee program at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. She and her husband, Lee, are members of First Baptist Church in Arlington.
___ Gaither concert to honor crash victims. Recording artists Bill and Gloria Gaither will present a concert at Memorial Baptist Church in Temple in honor of five church members who died in a bus accident en route to the Gaither Homecoming Concert in Dallas Feb. 14, Associate Pastor Robert Mattson reported.
___ First pupil to deliver Maston lecture. Foy Valentine, the first doctoral student of T.B. Maston, will deliver the third annual T.B. Maston Lectures April 7 and 8 at Hardin-Simmons University's Logsdon School of Theology. He will speak at 7 p.m. April 7 on "Christian Ethics: An Overview from Underneath" and at 10 the next morning on "Christian Ethics: A Case for Virtues and Values." The lectures, to be held in the Logsdon Chapel, are free and open to the public.
___ Grenz to lecture at HBU. Houston Baptist University's Staley Lecture Series March 20 will feature Stanley Grenz, distinguished professor of theology at Baylor University's Truett Seminary. Grenz is the author or co-author of 23 books and is a consulting editor for Christianity Today.
___ Crenshaw to lead UMHB revival. Scott Crenshaw and Spurfiftyeight are set to lead revival at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 7 p.m. April 7-9. The meeting will be held in a large tent in the quadrangle of the Belton campus. The revival is free and open to the public.
___ DBU prof's book a best-seller. Jim Underwood, professor of management at Dallas Baptist University, has written "More Than a Pink Cadillac," an inside look at leadership and faith-based decision-making at Mary Kay Inc. The book hit No. 8 on the New York Times' Best-Seller list. The Wall Street Journal ranked it among the top 10 best-sellers in management and non-fiction categories.
___ DBU names Byrd Building. Dallas Baptist University has named one of its new Colonial Village apartment buildings in honor of former trustee and long-time supporter Harold Byrd Jr. As a member of the board of trustees from 1966 to 1971, Byrd acted as a liaison between the school and the Dallas community after the school moved from Decatur. Through the years, the building contractor has donated both money and services to the university. He also serves on the board of the Hillcrest Foundation, which has been a major donor to DBU. He and his wife, Roberta, reside in Dallas.
___ LifeWay store doubles size. Bigger facilities mean bigger ministry for the LifeWay Christian Store in North Richland Hills. When the store moves to its new 924 NE Loop 820 location April 1, it will more than double its size. Grand-opening events include visits from Jay Jay the Jetplane April 12 and Veg-gieTales' Bob and Larry April 19. ___ Wayland tuition to hold steady. Tuition at Wayland Baptist University's Plainview campus is not expected to change for the coming academic year. Wayland trustees will consider the tuition freeze at their March 27 meeting. The proposal "came from the economic and geographic context of this campus," President Paul Armes said. "We live in an area that has faced more than its share of economic struggles ..., and our recommendation reflected consideration of that." Tuition for the Plainview campus is $270 per credit hour for undergraduate students and $275 for graduate students.
___ Hilton tourney benefits grief support. The J.D. Hilton Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco, will benefit Jamie's Place children grief support groups. ___Howard Payne University student Jessica Felts greets Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss after the opening performance of "And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank." Felts portrayed Anne Frank in HPU's spring production, based on the experiences of Schloss, Frank and others during the Holocaust. Schloss and Frank knew each other as children, when their families lived in Amsterdam. Both families went into hiding in 1942, and both were betrayed to the Nazis.
