___ A workshop for Hispanic pastors, deacons and their wives will be held March 29 from 9 a.m. until noon at First Church in New Braunfels. Lunch will be served at the church.

___ Seven couples with Texas ties were among the 98 International Mission Board missionaries appointed March 15:
___ Jerry and Tina Barnwell of Granbury will offer field support in Central and Eastern Europe. He was born in Dallas and was a teacher in Red Oak and Arlington. He is a Dallas Baptist University and Southwestern Seminary graduate, and she attended Wayland Baptist University. They are members of South Hills Church in Fort Worth.
___ Kent and Kerie Gayle of Bedford will offer field support in Western Europe. They are members of First Church in Euless and have two children, Kaden and Kenedie.
___ Kevin and Lynn Nelson of Duncanville will go to Eastern Africa to work in church and leadership development. He formerly was youth/associate pastor at Skyline Church in Dallas. Both Texas natives, they are members of First Church in Dallas and have three daughters--Sarah, Hannah and Rachel.
___ Eric and Lacey Perkins will serve Eastern South America as evangelists and church planters. Both Dallas natives, he formerly was minister of youth at Calvary Hill Church in Mesquite prior to serving churches in Louisana and Mississippi. They have three daughters--Emily, Hannah and Elise.
___ Eddy and Amanda Simmons will serve as evangelists and church planters in Eastern Africa. He was born in Corpus Christi, and she taught school in Raymondville. They have four sons--Nathan, Josiah, Seth and Micah.
___ Tom and Jennifer Thompson of Kingwood will serve as strategy coordinators in Central and Eastern Europe. Members of Forest Cove Church in Kingwood, they have one daughter, Emilia.
___ Jeff and Melanie Walters will serve as evangelists and church planters in Western Europe. He was born in Fort Worth, and they have three children--Rachel, Jeffrey and Daniel.
___Anniversaries
___ Bill Bryan, fifth, as minister of administration and pastoral care at South Main Church in Pasadena March 23.
___ First Church in Alpine, 110th, April 25-27. The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, when former pastor Bruce Lampert will speak prior to a fellowship meal. An 11 a.m. brunch will be held Saturday morning with former pastor Earl Dunn as the featured speaker. The dedication of a historical plaque is planned for that meeting. Former pastor Harold Scarbrough will speak at 7 that evening, followed by a birthday cake social. Former pastor Don Jeffreys will preach Sunday morning, followed by a catered barbecue luncheon. ___ George Nelson Jr., pastor of Grace Fellowship Church in Brenham, was elected moderator of Independence Association March 14. Nelson is the first African-American moderator in the 81-year history of the association, which is comprised of 30 churches.
___ Iglesia Agua Cristalina in Corpus Christi was constituted as a church March 30. Agua Cristalina was the third of five missions started by First Church in Portland since 1995 to constitute as a church. Ray Cervantes is pastor.
___ James Merritt, pastor of First Church in Snellville, Ga., and past president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will be the guest speaker for an evangelism rally at First Church in Colleyville at 7 p.m. April 2. Frank Harber is pastor.
___ Calvary Church in Garland will hold a dedication service at 5:30 p.m. April 6 in preparation for the church's planned relocation to property at the intersection of Campbell and Murphy roads. Greg Bowers is pastor.
___ Cadiz Church in Beeville will honor Pastor R.C. Jeanes for his 37 years of service with a dinner and love offering April 7. Roy Pat Bell will be the guest speaker.

___Deaths
___ Jack Medford, 78, March 18 in Fort Worth. A member of the Army Air Force in World War II, he met his future wife at a USO club-sponsored blind date on assignment in Amarillo. An evangelist, Medford served with the Home Mission Board for more than a decade, helping start more than 125 churches, including Silver Creek Mission and Midway Church, both in Azle. In 1963, he was one of the co-founders of Sowers of Seeds, a program to print the Bible for use in the Japan New Life Movement, which still is in existence printing biblical materials and tracts. Medford was a member of Ash Creek Church in Azle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Thelma, and son, Lewis. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Medford, and sister, Judine Kay.
___ June Baker, 77, March 18 in Dallas. She was active in the music ministry of Gaston Oaks Church in Dallas for 19 years. She was an integral part of her husband Clif's music ministry as he served at First Church in Beaumont, First Church in Oklahoma City with Herschel Hobbs and 28 years at Gaston Oaks. He currently serves there as minister to senior adults. She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Mary Catherine Grisham and Jean Ryden; son, Clifton III; twin sister, Jean Strickland; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
___ A.O. Jenkins, 87, March 21 in Marshall. Jenkins had been pastor of churches in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. He was a member of First Church in Marshall. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucile; daughters, Janice Quick, Patricia Scott and Judy Scrivner; son, Ronnie; sisters, Virgie Lewis and Nora Kesterson; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
