___ Edwards to receive ABP award. Associated Baptist Press will bestow its 2003 Religious Freedom Award on United States Rep. Chet Edwards of Waco. The honor is given annually to individuals whom ABP's directors believe have made unique contributions to the defense and advancement of religious freedom. Edwards is scheduled to accept the award at an April 10 banquet in Washington.
___ More join Busch boycott. Last week's Standard reported that fishing legend Jimmy Houston, an Oklahoma Baptist, opted out of the running for the Busch BASS Angler of the Year competition rather than wear a Busch jacket patch and use a Busch logo on his boat. Georgia angler Paul Hanley and Mark Rose of Arkansas also have forfeited Busch BASS Angler of the Year points for not donning the Busch logo. A fourth fishing pro, Lendell Martin, a member of Highway 157 Baptist
___Church in Nacogdoches, chose not to compete in any BASS events in 2003.
___ MIA soldier a new convert. An American soldier listed as missing in action apparently accepted Christ and was baptized several days before being captured. James Kiehl, 22, of Comfort, was the focus of a report on Dallas' KTVT-TV March 26, during which Kiehl was seen being immersed in the middle of the desert. Kiehl is one of seven members of the 507th Maintenance Company from Fort Bliss listed as missing in action.
