___bluebull UMHB plans Easter pageant. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's 64th annual Easter pageant will be presented Wednesday, April 16, at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., on campus at the Luther Memorial Arches. The outdoor reproduction of the Christ's passion week is free and open to the public. It is completely produced, directed, costumed and performed by university students.
___bluebull Baylor graduate programs rank high. Baylor University's graduate programs in law, business, nursing, education, clinical psychology, speech-language pathology and other health-related programs were ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in its "2004 Best Graduate School" list. Baylor Law School's trial advocacy program ranked 11th in the nation, up five spots from last year. Overall, Baylor Law School ranked 51st among 100 schools evaluated. Baylor's executive master of business administration program tied with Massachusetts Institute of Technology to be ranked 21st in the nation.
___bluebull Organ camps offered. Baylor University's School of Music will offer two music camps this summer designed to help equip musicians for church service. Both the June 8-14 Summer Organ Institute and the July 7-11 Pipe Organ Encounter will be directed by Joyce Jones, who has written an organ method to enable pianists to transition easily to organ playing. The camps are open both to organists who would like to improve their skills and pianists who would like to learn to play the organ. ___bluebull Asian youth camp planned. The first Baptist General Convention of Texas Asian youth camp is scheduled for June 16-20 at Baylor University. The camp, "Take Out," includes workshops and features Byron Shaffner, minister of missions and college students at Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Waco. ___bluebull Congress of the Border coming. A Congreso de la Frontera will be held April 21-23 in Piedras Negras. The event, sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Texas River Ministry, is designed to strengthen churches along the Texas-Mexico border. The conference theme is "Healthy Pastors' Families for a More Effective Ministry." Many of the participants--anticipated to be more than 500--will be housed in churches, dormitories and homes. Keynote speakers are Gilberto and Yanina Gutierrez and Ricardo and Noemi Vera. For more information, call (888) 333-2363.
___bluebull Missions network board calls for prayer. Texas Baptists can help shape their emerging missions network through daily prayer, according to the network's board of directors. The board's prayer committee has appealed to Texas Baptists to take time at noon each day to seek God's direction for the developing missions network. Specifically, the committee is asking Texas Baptists to pray for increased missions passion among all churches, wisdom for board members as they seek the network's first leader and a clear understanding by the board of God's vision for missions in the 21st century.
___bluebull TBC plans convocation. Texas Baptists Committed has announced plans for its summer convocation July 11-12 in San Antonio. The event will be held at the Marriott Plaza under the theme "Texas Baptists Committed to Preserving Religious Freedom." Room reservations may be made through Vicky Trusdle at trusdle@txbc.org.
___bluebull Watkins at HBU. Enron whistleblower Sherron Watkins will speak at Houston Baptist University's Woman's Day Convocation April 24. The event is free and will be held in Sharp Gym at 10:10 a.m.
