___ Pastors' wives to hear Higgs. Christian humorist Liz Curtis Higgs will be the keynote speaker for this year's Ministers' Wives Conference during the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting. The luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. June 17 at the Phoenix City Plaza in Phoenix, Ariz. Tickets are $10 if ordered before May 15 or $12 at the convention. ___ BWA postpones conference in Hong Kong. The 14th Baptist Youth World Conference, scheduled for July 16-20 in Hong Kong, has been postponed to Aug. 4-8, 2004.
___Emmett Dunn, director of the BWA Youth Department, said the postponement was necessary due to the spread of SARS, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, throughout Southeast Asia. Hotels, travel agents and the convention center all have promised to hold current rates at their present levels, he said.
___ CBF gets $5 million gift. The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship has received a $5 million anonymous contribution to support its global missions program and other ministries.
___The bulk of the gift, $4.2 million, will go to global missions. Another $500,000 was earmarked to endow the CBF Church Benefits Board, $250,000 was given for church starts and $50,000 for a new database system at CBF's Atlanta headquarters. This is the second major anonymous gift CBF has received. Last year, an anonymous donor gave $4 million to CBF global missions.
