___ DBU gets chapel gift. The Andersen Foundation of Minnesota has donated $250,000 toward construction of a new chapel building at Dallas Baptist University. The school currently does not have a chapel but uses a multi-use gymnasium and auditorium for chapel services three times a week.
___ UMHB receives $1.5 million grant. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has received a $1.5 million challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation of Tulsa, Okla. The funds will help construct the Frank and Sue Mayborn Campus Center, which carries an estimated price tag of $9 million. The university will receive the $1.5 million when it has raised the remaining $7.5 million. Currently, $6.5 million has been raised, leaving a goal of $1 million to be met by Feb. 27, 2004. The 64,000-square-foot facility will include a multi-level arena, lobby, hall of fame with trophy cases, concession areas, restrooms and locker rooms, as well as classrooms, faculty offices, workout and aerobics facilities, the current Mabee gymnasium and the Barbara Chaney Swim Center.
___ Marshall speaks at DBU. Paul Marshall delivered a series of lectures at Dallas Baptist University April 4-5 during the Pew College Society Student Conference. Marshall, senior fellow at the Claremont Institute and at Freedom House's Center for Religious Freedom, emphasized the plight of persecuted Christians worldwide and the responsibility for Christian citizenship.
___ Baylor Hymn Hour expands audience. "Hymn Hour," a Sunday morning church music program produced by Baylor University, now is broadcast on the 30 Texas stations in the American Family Radio network. The program, modeled after Norvell Slater's "Hymns We Love" program popular in the Metroplex for decades, has been carried by Waco area stations since 1999. "Hymn Hour" will air at 10 p.m. on the 30 Texas stations in the American Family Radio network. These include stations in Abilene, Amarillo, Del Rio, Midland-Odessa, Plainview and Victoria, as well a new 100,000-watt station in Houston.
___ Drop-off sites listed. The previously announced project to provide food boxes for the people of Iraq now has additional drop-off points.
