___bluebull Anti-Jewish incidents rise on campuses. The number of anti-Jewish incidents in the United States increased slightly from 2001 to 2002, but similar incidents reported on campuses rose 25 percent in 2002, the Anti-Defamation League reported. The total of anti-Jewish incidents reported against Jews and Jewish institutions rose from 1,432 in 2001 to 1,559 in 2002. The number of anti-Semitic incidents on campus increased for the third straight year, up to 106 in 2002, compared to 85 in 2001.
___bluebull Palau draws 300,000 at Beachfest. Evangelist Luis Palau preached to about 300,000 people March 22-23, breaking U.S. records for his ministry, during Beachfest, a two-day evangelistic spring break gathering in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Police estimated the crowd was 200,000 on Saturday and 100,000 on Sunday.
___bluebull Sales of Bibles & religious books grow. Preparation for war may have boosted sales of Bibles and other religious books in America, the Financial Times reported. U.S. publishers collected almost $15 million in religious book revenues in January. Zondervan's revenues for Bible sales, for example, were up 10 percent over the years before.
___bluebull Presbyterians to cut budget. In an effort to balance its budget, the Presbyterian Church (USA) will cut its 2004 budget by $3.1 million. The budget will be balanced by eliminating 19 staff positions and using $1.67 million from savings. Last year the church laid off 66 people at its Louisville, Ky., headquarters.
