___ Husky Revue planned. Husky Revue, the annual student talent show at Houston Baptist University, will include solo, group, organization and international acts April 12 at 7 p.m. in Sharp Gymnasium. Tickets are $5 each, and proceeds from the event benefit the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance.
___ Retreat facility open. Miracle Farm, a ministry of Texas Baptist Children's Home, has opened a new retreat center that can be booked by churches. The facility includes two 30-bed bunkhouses, a 14-bed bunkhouse and a small conference facility. The new main dining hall can seat up to 400. Miracle Farm is located near Brenham. ___ HBU appoints trustees. Houston Baptist University has elected four new trustees under terms of its governing documents. These individuals serve in addition to new board members elected by the Baptist General Convention of Texas and reported earlier in the Standard. New trustees are Roger Bridgwater of Houston, Gem Childress of Sugar Land, Lisa Simon of Houston and Roger Steers of Kingwood.
___ Clarification: An article in the March 3 issue titled "CBF developing partnership with Texas Hispanics" could have incorrectly implied that Hispanic Baptist Theological School starts churches. The school, according to President Albert Reyes, supports church-starting efforts by training ministers. The reported partnership between the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, HBTS and the Hispanic Baptist Convention seeks to start 400 Hispanic churches in the United States and train 400 Hispanic Baptist church leaders. Further, the agreement has not been finalized but is a work in progress, Reyes said.
___ DBU plans hymn sing. Dallas Baptist University will bring students and senior adults together with its annual Grandparents' Day celebration and Norvell Slater Senior Adult Hymn Sing April 11. Grandparents' Day provides grandparents of DBU students an opportunity to visit their grandchildren in their college environment. The hymn sing is an annual tradition. Admission to the hymn sing is free, and no reservations are needed. The celebration will begin with a pre-concert reception at 1:30 p.m. in the Burg Center, with the hymn sing commencing at 2 p.m.
___ HPU names vice president. Brad Johnson has been named vice president of enrollment and student services at Howard Payne University. Johnson currently serves as director of financial aid and scholarships at Hardin-Simmons University. He previously served Howard Payne as director of university counseling, testing and career services and associate dean of students. He is a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and is a candidate in the doctor of education program at Baylor.
___ Hillcrest promotes administrators. Hillcrest Health System in Waco has announced four promotions within its senior management. Jim Gebhart, senior vice president, has been promoted to chief operating officer and executive vice president. Cyndy Dunlap, senior vice president and chief nursing officer, has been promoted to executive vice president. She will continue to serve as chief nursing officer. James Gray, senior vice president and chief medical officer, has been promoted to executive vice president. He will continue to serve as chief medical officer. Richard Perkins, senior vice president and chief financial officer, has been promoted to executive vice president. He will continue to serve as chief financial officer.
___ WBU names dorm. A women's dormitory constructed in 2001 at Wayland Baptist University now has a name. In their March 27 meeting, trustees approved naming it Wallace and Patsy Davis Hall in honor of Davis' accomplishments as president and chancellor of Wayland. Davis retired last May.
