Hemphill resigns at Southwestern

___FORT WORTH—Ken Hemphill announced today his resignation as president of Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
___Hemphill, who has led the seminary nine years, will become national stategist for Empowering Kingdom Growth, a new initiative of the Southern Baptist Convention. Hemphill will complete the current academic term before moving to Nashville, Tenn., where he will be jointly employed by the SBC Executive Committee and Lifeway Christian Resources.
___Hemphill announced the change to a packed chapel audience of students, faculty, staff and trustees. Trustees are expected to appoint a presidential search committee this afternoon.
