BGCT aiding European church starts ___An effort by the Texas Partnerships Center to fund indigenous church starts in Europe is gaining momentum, according to reports from Theo Angelov, general secretary of the European Baptist Federation. ___The 23 indigenous missionaries currently serving through the European effort will meet this week in Kiev, Ukraine, for training and encouragement. ___The Baptist General Convention of Texas, through its partnership missions program, is funding 14 of the 23 church starters. Other participating bodies include the American Baptist Convention, North American Baptist Convention, Baptist General Conference, Southern Baptist Convention, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and three other state Baptist conventions. ___Currently, church starting efforts are focused on Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Armenia and Latvia. ___In April, the European Baptist Federation appointed Polish Baptist pastor Daniel Turisewicz coordinator of the international partnership. ___Don Sewell, director of the Texas Partnerships Center, reported the initial success of this effort as a "positive step" in mission strategy. It is also a project through which the BGCT gets a "powerful bang for the buck," he noted.
