New York: Coats for the City

Time flies! I have enjoyed every single minute since I moved to New York City. I have learned so much working at the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association, and I am so humbled to have finished my first semester in the city.

This past week, we had nearly 90 volunteers at the association as thousands of coats arrived from North Carolina for our Coats for the City project.

We were able to give about 5,000 coats to needy people, as well as distribute Christian material in their own languages. Volunteers gave away the coats during a beautiful snowy day.

As my first semester in New York City comes to an end, I get ready to go back home in Texas for Christmas. I am excited about what is to come in 2014.

It will be a busy year at the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association as we get ready for Passport New York, as well as our summer internship program. It will be an exciting year, and I am eager to see what God will do in New York next year.

Leilani Estrada-Colima, a graduate of the University of Texas Pan-Am, served in New York last summer with Go Now Missions and returned to New York City to serve as a Go Now semester missionary with Metropolitan New York Baptist Association.
