Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact eric.black@baptiststandard.com.

Beth Moore: Knowing This from That (Acts 1-2)

Beth Moore, speaker, Bible teacher and founder of Living Proof Ministries, preached during the inaugural National Preaching Conference hosted by the Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching at Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. Moore noticed a recurring phrase Luke used in Acts: “this Jesus.” Luke accentuates “this Jesus,” because “there is ‘this Jesus’ and ‘that Jesus,'” she said. The challenge is to figure out which one we know, Moore said.

A summary of Moore’s sermon can be read here. The sermon can be viewed in the video below or on Baylor’s website. This sermon was delivered at First Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, during the morning session of the inaugural National Preaching Conference on Nov. 20, 2019.
