Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact eric.black@baptiststandard.com.

Brian Hill: Just You and Me (Psalm 46:10)

Brian Hill

Brian Hill, senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, begins a series of Lenten sermons by examining the place of Lent in spiritual transformation. Lent is less about giving something up than it is about making space in our lives for God. Jesus practiced making space for God, and so should we so we can focus intently on God. To be still and know God is God will require … well, you’ll just have to listen to the sermon. Audio of this sermon is available here.

This sermon was delivered during the morning worship services at First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi on March 10, 2019—the First Sunday of Lent—and is the first in a series titled “Pathway to Transformation.”
