Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact [email protected].

Drew Dabbs: Days that Define Us (Luke 23:33-46)

Drew Dabbs, pastor of First Baptist Church in Hamilton, shared some of the life-defining days in his life, followed by a list of defining days for the United States. Remembering the events of Sept. 11, 2001, Dabbs recalled the story of Todd Beamer and a defining day they have in common—the respective days they gave their lives to Christ.

Dabbs exhorted his hearers to let the day Jesus died on the cross be a defining day for them. He reminded them the day Jesus died should be “accompanied by another day, the day we give our lives to Jesus.”

This sermon was delivered Sept. 12, 2021, for the morning worship service of First Baptist Church in Hamilton.
