Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact eric.black@baptiststandard.com.

John Hall: The Goal of Every Pastor (Galatians 4:8-20)

John Hall

John Hall, pastor of Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas, illustrates how difficult a pastor’s job is because of the many expectations placed on a pastor. However, a pastor’s job is not to meet all of those expectations but is to focus on the goal of people being formed in Christ. Hall explains what is involved in being formed in Christ, and it doesn’t involve how young or old a pastor is or what kind of personality and leadership skills the pastor has. The manuscript for this sermon is available here.

This sermon was delivered during the morning worship service at Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas, on December 16, 2018.
