Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact [email protected].

Dr. Julio Guarneri: Remembering our Heritage (John 8:32)

Dr. Julio Guaneri, the lead pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen, Texas, begins by honoring those who lost their lives fighting to preserve American freedoms. Freedom comes at a price and carries responsibility, whether that freedom is political or spiritual. He turns from those freedoms to the source of freedom, who is Jesus Christ. Spiritual freedom is given by God to all people. Guarneri also provides a short history of Baptists as people who champion religious freedom.

This sermon was delivered during the morning worship service at Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen on May 26, 2019 in honor of Memorial Day. The audio for this sermon is available here. The outline for this sermon is available here.
