Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact [email protected].

Kevin Mitchell: On Mission: Here and Now (John 20:27-31)

Kevin Mitchell, pastor of First Baptist Church in Pecos, Texas, preached on the resurrection narrative, focusing on the word “believe,” which he says is central to the Gospel of John. Mitchell encouraged his hearers to follow the example of the first disciples who believed in Jesus’ resurrection and communicated their belief to others. He recalled the miracles that resulted by belief, stories found throughout the Bible. The outline for this sermons is available here.

Mitchell called the people of First Baptist Church in Pecos to live in belief, to witness of Jesus’ resurrection and to participate in the gospel by sharing it with everyone in their community.

This sermon was delivered on Resurrection Sunday, Apr. 1, 2018, during the morning worship service at First Baptist Church in Pecos.
