Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact [email protected].

Larry Floyd: Peter the Pillar (Acts 10:1-23)

Larry Floyd, former pastor of City Church Del Rio in Del Rio, Texas, who recently was called to be executive director of El Paso Baptist Association in El Paso, exhorts his congregation to step up and be a pillar of the faith, to be an amazing man or woman who will stand the test of time. He describes the character of a pillar of the faith—a church pillar—in three points: they are called by God, are available to God and listen to God. Sermon outline is available here.

This sermon was delivered during the morning worship service at City Church Del Rio on Sept. 15, 2019 as part of a series on “Peter the Pillar” that was part of a larger series on Acts titled “Acts: Movement, Momentum, Multiply.”
