Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact [email protected].

Rev. Dr. Michael Evans: God’s Power Made Manifest Through Unity (Romans 12:1)

Rev. Dr. Michael Evans

Rev. Dr. Michael Evans, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas and current president of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, reminded his hearers they are together because the “Lord says so.” To those gathered, Evans said they are called by Jesus to go out into the world together. He recounted the rich diversity of Baptists in Texas and the early history of the Christian church in dealing with diversity. Evans calls Baptists to serve together in response to amorality and immorality in the world.

This sermon was delivered on October 19, 2018, during the San Antonio Baptist Association Global Mission Summit hosted by First Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. The outline for this sermon is available here.
