Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact eric.black@baptiststandard.com.

Paul Sands: Ephesians 5:5-8

Paul Sands, senior pastor of First Woodway Baptist Church in Woodway, addresses the complications of life by focusing on the clear root question. Under the complications is a decision between following, trusting, obeying and worshipping God or not. Sands calls followers of Christ to “live as children of the light,” not tying their lives to darkness. The decision to follow Jesus is an either/or choice with consequences in this world, namely, letting go of the darkness to which we’ve become accustomed.

This sermon was delivered on Nov. 3, 2019, during the morning worship service at First Woodway Baptist Church in Woodway. Sands is preaching through the Bible in conjunction with LifeWay’s Explore the Bible curriculum used by First Woodway’s Life Groups.
