Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. To recommend a sermon to be featured in Baptists Preaching, please contact [email protected].

This sermon wraps up the first year of Baptists Preaching—52 weeks of sermons.

Rusty Gilliam: The Spirit Without Measure (John 3:30-36)

Rusty Gilliam, pastor of Cross Timber Baptist Church in Burleson, Texas, considers what it means that God gives the Spirit without measure. He explains the greater context of John’s statement that Jesus must increase and John must decrease. The following verses describe how Jesus is greater than John in at least five ways. In consideration of Jesus’ greatness, Gilliam challenges his congregation to give more room to the Spirit’s work in their lives.
