Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Stacy Conner: Humility and Pride (Proverbs 16:19)

Stacy Conner, pastor of First Baptist Church in Muleshoe, Texas, begins with a set of stories about how small humans are in the grand scheme of things. Recognizing this, a person can embrace humility. However, a person just as easily can hold on to pride. In fact, humility can turn into yet another source of pride. In considering the problem of pride, Conner reflects on Proverbs and lessons learned from paying attention to the world around him. He finishes with a story about what humility looks like.

This sermon was delivered on Feb. 16, 2020, during the morning worship service at First Baptist Church in Muleshoe. An outline of the sermon is available here.
