Ward Hayes: Three Absolute Truths (Galatians 2)

Ward Hayes, senior pastor of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas, presents three foundational, absolute truths undergirding Christian faith.

  • Jesus is the only way to salvation. In support of Jesus being the only way to salvation, Hayes considers a few arguments, including C.S. Lewis’ “liar, lunatic or Lord” argument from Mere Christianity and Paul’s argument in Galatians 2.
  • God’s love is unconditional. God’s love is grounded in his character, not in our actions.
  • A person’s relationship with God is conditional. It isn’t a forced relationship. It depends on a person’s accepting God’s offer of grace and forgiveness and surrendering to his lordship.

Hayes looks at several passages of Scripture that either state these truths or are the basis for these truths.

This sermon was delivered during the morning worship service at Valley Grove Baptist Church in Stephenville on September 8, 2019 in response to two prominent Christians rejecting or questioning their Christian faith. The outline for this sermon is available here.
