The Magnificent Journey: Living Deep in the Kingdom

By James Bryan Smith (InterVarsity Press)

It is hard to follow Jesus, but it is not impossible. In his grace, God has given us a way to live with purpose and joy in this broken world. The Magnificent Journey helps readers walk the narrow road of following Jesus.

In the first section, “Living Deep In The Kingdom,” James Bryan Smith reminds us of the awesome truth of God’s love, God’s promises and God’s unshakable kingdom. We live into these truths through surrender, growing relationally in our knowledge of Jesus, living with an eternal perspective, and learning to listen to God because he always is speaking.

In the second section, “Developing Kingdom Virtues,” Smith helps us grow. He calls us to faith, hope, love and joy. In each chapter, he shows us in practical ways how to grow in these kingdom virtues.

The Magnificent Journey is designed to be read in community, with study questions at the end of the book and spiritual practices at the end of each chapter. Smith has written a powerful and practical book helping us learn to follow Jesus down the narrow road leading to joy.
