Around the State: 4xFour evangelism clinic set

The Baptist General Convention of Texas evangelism division will conduct a Spanish language 4xFour evangelism clinic  from 9 a.m. to noon May 30 at Crosspoint Church Español in Bellaire. 4xFour is a process to reach people with the Gospel.

Dallas Baptist University presented the dbu awards425Jonathan Fechner and Brittany O’Neal received Dallas Baptist University’s Frank and Martin Moore Servant Leadership Award.Frank and Martin Moore Servant Leadership Award to Brittany O’Neal of The Colony and Jonathan Fechner of Dallas in recognition of their stewardship within the DBU community and throughout the city. They each received $750 toward educational use and $250 to donate to the charity of their choice.

Howard Payne University honored Bill Fowler, associate professor of Christian studies, as outstanding faculty member of the year and Bobbie Price, certification coordinator and graduation assistant, as the outstanding staff member. Certificates recognizing excellence in teaching were received by Danny Brunette-Lopez, associate professor of Spanish, and Kathy Hagood, associate professor of English. Rebecca Mainka and Matt Zinser were recognized for excellence in service. Length of service awards were presented to Robert Mangrum, university historian and professor of government and history, 35 years; and Mary Dunham, assistant professor of library science and technical services librarian, 30 years. Also recognized for 25 years of service were Brenda Brittain, Gerry Clarkson, and Gary Gramling; 20 years, Wendy Grooms, John Nickols and Bertha Valle; and 15 years, Mary Griffin, Kathy James, Tracy Stansberry and Patricia Valencia.

The nursing school initiated individual and team opportunities for hands-on undergraduate research, including field schools and international projects.

Buckner Children and Family Services will present a free foster-care and adoption information meeting May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at 5200 Buckner Blvd. in Dallas. Participants will receive an overview of foster care and adoption options in Texas, including foster-to-adopt, Waiting Texas Children, and domestic infant adoption and international adoption programs. Anniversary

Larry Davis, 25th, as pastor of South Garland Baptist Church in Garland, June 8. Guest preachers for the month are Bob Dean, June 7; Jim Denison, June 14; Earl Craig, June 21; and Daniel Camp, June 28. Guest worship leaders also will lead each service during the month. A reception will be held June 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The month-long celebration concludes with a potluck supper June 28. Members also are encouraged to make financial or service-hour donations to ministry organizations in his honor.
