Lake Ivie Baptist Association will hold its senior adult rally at First Baptist Church in Bronte March 5 at 11:30 a.m. Ken Lyle is the guest speaker. Matt and Joanna Self and Donnie Cornutt will be the musicians. The event includes a free baked-potato lunch.

Activities will include wagon rides, horseback rides for children, a “Salute to America” mounted flag presentation, a petting zoo, a roping demonstration and campus tours, as well as free ice cream and a live auction of crafts made by the boys.

Singer and author Gloria Gaither will headline Hardin-Simmons University’s Round Table Scholarship Luncheon March 6. She has written lyrics for more than 700 songs and is a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. She earned four Grammy Awards, 10 Dove Awards and the ASCAP Songwriters of the Century Award. She also has written more than 40 books. Tickets to the luncheon are sold out, but tickets to a concert may be purchased at the door for $10. Luncheon guests will be seated at 11:30 a.m., and the performance will begin at 12:15 p.m. The luncheon supports the Lucile Sandefer Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded during the event.

The Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions will hold an 11 a.m. luncheon March 20 at 5100 Ross Avenue in Dallas titled “Hunger Solutions for the Faith Community.” Jeremy Everett, director of the Texas Hunger Initiative, will present six ways congregations can alleviate hunger. A complimentary light lunch will be served.

Wayland Baptist University will hold its Big Weekend for prospective students March 28-29. The event includes activities, information sessions, meals, campus tours and scholarship auditions. Registration is $30. To register, click here

Jan Daehnert, who served the jan daehnert300Jan DaehnertBaptist General Convention of Texas 37 years in various roles including interim executive director, has joined the Dallas Baptist University faculty as assistant professor of biblical studies. He and his wife, Carol, are members of Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving.

A national exhibition March 28-May 11 at the Wichita Center for the Arts in Wichita, Kan., will feature two pastel pieces by David Harmon, professor of art at Howard Payne University.

Sam Moseley, a Marshall attorney and former East Texas Baptist University board of trustees chairman, received ETBU’s Sam B. Hall Jr. Civic Service Award. Hall of Fame football coach Gene Stallings was the keynote speaker for the evening.

First Baptist Church in Devine will hold a Bible conference titled “Contemporary Issues and the Bible” March 28-30. Conference leaders are Bill Tillman, director of theological education for the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and Randy Richards, dean of the School of Ministry at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Mike Barrera is pastor.

Karen Peck and New River will present a concert at the Franklin High School Auditorium at 6 p.m. March 29. Tickets are for sale at First Baptist Church in Franklin for $15 and $20.
