A group of students from Howard Payne University travelled to Vazec, Slovakia, for a weeklong mission experience as a part of their international missions practicum course. The students led ministry activities among the Roma and Slovak people and learned missiology from Shane and Dianne McNary, missionaries serving there. The students spent the spring semester studying about the people of the region and the customs and culture. After the trip, students wrote papers describing what they learned. Melody Maxwell, HPU assistant professor of Christian studies, led the group. Cross-cultural experiences remind students and faculty God’s kingdom is much bigger than the university, Texas and the United States, she said.
