Around the State: Jim and Casper go to HSU

Hardin-Simmons University will be the site of the Jim and Casper Show April 14 at 7 p.m. In addition, the duo will lead the April 15 chapel service at 9:30 a.m. The musical duo and authors of Jim and Casper Go to Church, debate Christianity and atheism in the stage show “Why We Need to Change the Conversion Conversation.” When minister Jim Henderson wanted to know what atheists think about church, he recruited nonbeliever Matt Casper, and the two visited churches across the country. The pair recounts their experiences and reactions during the nationwide journey. Both events are free and open to the public.

Stephen Sullivan has been named director stephen sullivan130Stephen Sullivanof alumni relations at Howard Payne University. He previously served as admissions counselor and coordinator of the Mobile Go Center, which provides information about college to high school students and their families.

Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Sour Lake, 140th, March 30. Richard Standley will lead a hymnsing at 9:30 a.m. A meal will follow the morning service. A 1:30 p.m. service will feature singing by The Master’s Men and a sermon by Gene Mims. Drifty Cates is pastor.
