Baptist University of the Américas will present the T.B. Maston Symposium on Christian Ethics Oct. 5-6. The conference topic is “A Cross-Cultural Conversation on Race Relations.” It will begin at 7 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday. Speakers will include Albert Reyes of Buckner International, Kathryn Freeman from the Christian Life Commission and Bill Tillman with the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board. The conference is free, and registration is not required.
Dallas Baptist University will hold a Columbus Day Patriot Preview for prospective students and their parents Oct. 12. Included is a tour of the campus, meetings with faculty and administrators, and information about admissions, financial aid and campus life. The event is free for each student and up to two guests. BCFS, formerly Baptist Child & Family Services, has appointed Jamie Thompson as director of education of its education services arm. The organization operates Head Start programs throughout Texas. Head Start promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of early learners.
