Mercer professor to rebuild Liberian seminary. Mercer University professor Richard Wilson will lead the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary in 2014, a position that will require him to rebuild the infrastructure, faculty and image of the war-torn institution. Wilson, chairman of Mercer’s Christianity department, will serve a one-year appointment as president beginning Jan. 4. The job also includes helping nurture far-flung Baptist congregations struggling with high unemployment and low literacy rates, as well as finding a Liberian to become president of the seminary when his term ends next December.mercer_liberia

BWA plans global consultation on development. A global development consultation sponsored by Baptist World Aid will precede the Baptist World Alliance annual gathering in Izmir, Turkey, next July.
