New Baptist Covenant speakers proclaim ‘release’ to captives
Baptists must view prison ministry as more than prayer meetings and Bible studies if they are to follow Jesus’ Luke 4 mandate to “proclaim liberty to the captives,” former Arkansas Appeals Court Justice and Baptist pastor Wendell Griffen told the New Baptist Covenant II.

Speakers chosen for New Baptist Covenant II gathering Nov. 17-19
Social activists Marian Wright Edelman and Tony Campolo will join former President Jimmy Carter and seven other speakers on the program of the New Baptist Covenant II, a Nov. 17-19 gathering of diverse Baptists in Atlanta that will be linked by satellite and Internet to dozens of viewing locations around the country, including sites in San Antonio and Oklahoma City.
