HOUSTON—Whether singer/songwriter Roger Cullins is performing on stage in front of thousands or leading worship for a small-group Bible study, his goal remains the same—to share the gospel through music.

With the songs on his latest worship album, All I Can Say, Roger Cullins of Houston hopes to connect students and young adults to Christ.

"I'm blown away at the opportunity to be a tool used to connect people to God, to lead them to his throne and see what he does when they fix their eyes on him," Cullins said. "I want people to know that God loves them more than they could ever imagine. I also want them to know that nothing is impossible with God—even the smallest faith in an almighty God changes the course of our lives forever."

Since graduating from Howard Payne University in 2003, Cullins has led worship for a variety of events for youth and college students, including church retreats, DiscipleNow weekends, Song of Solomon Conferences, Metro Bible study and summer camps such as Student Life and LifeWay's Centrifuge.

In addition to leading worship at events around the country, Cullins also served as the director of worship at First Baptist Church in Houston more than five years before launching a full-time itinerant ministry.

Wherever Cullins performs, his goal is to offer more than a concert. Cullins desires to provide students and young adults a life-changing encounter with God.

As Cullins travels across the country, his original songs are earning a reputation for heart-felt lyrics and solid melodies. While the songwriting process is different for each song, Cullins said, the goal remains the same—to connect people to Christ.

"Sometimes, I'll take a life experience and look at the truths that God is teaching me from it," Cullins said. "I'll just lay thoughts out on paper, and then try to give it some shape later for a song. When Scripture is added, sometimes it's verbatim wording, and sometimes it's a summary of a truth in a passage.

"My favorite songs come with the music attached to the lyrics. I feel like God gives me a melodic tune that matches the message all in one. Those are my favorite, not just because it's easier on me, but I feel like the message and music are molded from the same inspirational experience. However, that only happens every once in a while."

When preparing for an event, Cullins carefully selects songs he feels will best suit the target audiences, with the goal of leading others to Christ. During his travels, Cullins enjoys spending time off the platform—meeting people and hearing stories about how God is working in their lives. He also enjoys encouraging other worship leaders and youth ministers.

"I love to help churches in any way I can," Cullins said. "Even if it's just a conversation about logistics for your church worship band, I want to help other ministries as much as possible. I love seeing people experience the fullness of God's presence during worship and seeing lives changed for God's glory. That's what God used to draw me to giving my life to full-time ministry when I was a junior in high school, and it's still my favorite thing today."
