Obituaries: Dan McQueen and George Clark

Dan C. McQueen, 87, Jan. 17 in Arlington. He was born into a pioneer family in Longview, where he was a certified public accountant before joining the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board as business manager. His avocation was music, and he actively participated in the music ministries of several churches in Texas and Georgia. He often sang solos and led in worship. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Bussey McQueen. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny. 

George Truett Clark, 83, Jan. 18 at his home in Pleasant View, Tenn. He was born and grew up in Paducah and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of Oxford. He was pastor of churches in Dumont, Guthrie, Carey, Nacogdoches, Timpson and Nederland and also worked as a garage mechanic, radio announcer, mortician and teacher at Stephen F. Austin State University. He was chaplain of the Nacogdoches Fire Department and a syndicated columnist, radio and television announcer and weekend weather broadcaster and author. For 27 years, he worked for the Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville, Tenn., and also was pastor of First Baptist Church of Pleasant View most of that time. He edited Church Administration, The Deacon and Proclaim magazines. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Jean Smith Clark; daughters, Jeana Georgette Clark and Jennifer Leigh Davidson; son, George Clark; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
