Obituaries: Fletcher, Campbell

Dorothy Fletcher, 80, Oct. 16 in Abilene. She was the wife of Hardin-Simmons University President Emeritus Jesse Fletcher. Dorothy FletcherWhile he was an administrator with the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board 15 years, they traveled extensively overseas, gaining insight into missionary personnel needs and a greater understanding of mission work. She also was active in the churches they served or attended, including teaching special-needs children in Sunday school. She was preceded in death by two children in infancy, Angela and Kathy Fletcher. She is survived by her husband of 59 years; son, Scott; daughter, Melissa Fletcher; brother, James Jordan; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Marilyn Campbell, 86, Oct. 21 in Tioga. She served alongside her husband, R.C. Campbell, marilyn campbell130Marilyn Campbellthroughout his ministry, which included the pastorate and 32 years as president of Buckner Baptist Benevolences. In 1989, Buckner named the administration building at Buckner Villas in Austin in her honor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years; brothers, Neill, John, James and William; and sister, Anna Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughters, Gayla Crain and Robbie Lehman; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
