Alonzo (Al) Addison Cummins Jr., retired Baptist pastor and missionary, died Dec. 25 in Georgetown. He was 86.

Alonzo (Al) Addison Cummins Jr., retired Baptist pastor and missionary, died Dec. 25 in Georgetown. He was 86. Cummins was born in Del Rio Nov. 6, 1930, and grew up in El Paso, Eagle Pass, Crystal City and San Benito. He earned degrees from Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His pastorates included County Line Baptist Church in Belton, Sparks Baptist Church in Academy, First Baptist Church in Karnes City, Southmore Baptist Church in Pasadena, First Baptist Church in Georgetown, Hoover Valley Baptist Church in Burnet and The Worship Place in Sun City. He served 20 years as a Baptist missionary in Kenya and Tanzania. He is survived his wife of 59 years, Peggy; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Kathy Cummins of Atlanta, Ga., and Jim and Kathy Cummins of Georgetown; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
