Obituary: Bill E. Roe

Bill E. Roe of Cleburne, retired Texas Baptist pastor and associational director of missions, died Oct. 4. He was 86.

Bill E. Roe of Cleburne, retired Texas Baptist pastor and associational director of missions, died Oct. 4. He was 86. He was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Wichita Falls to J.A. and Nettie Florence Roe. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1961. Roe was pastor of several Baptist churches in North Texas and North Central Texas. He worked 11 years for the Baptist General Convention of Texas and 15 years for Johnson Baptist Association. After retirement, he continued to serve as associational director of missions for Bosque and Hill counties. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nina; son, Dwight, and his wife, Denise, of Arlington; daughter Melissa Roe Powell and her husband, Larry Joe, of Burleson; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles Roe of Arkansas and Wayne Roe of Bellevue.
