Obituary: Edna Estep

Edna Estep, 91, April 9 in Fort Worth. A graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, she served with her husband, William, as he was pastor of congregations in Kentucky, Texas and Oklahoma. She taught Sunday school classes, served in the Woman’s Missionary Union, and hosted visiting evangelists and missionaries every place they ministered.

Edna EstepShe continued to serve after he went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1954 to teach in the church history department. They participated in several international mission trips and sabbaticals. They served in Colombia, Switzerland, Spain, England, Hong Kong, Canada and Peru. One of her favorites activities was teaching preschool Sunday school at Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth. She also enjoyed serving as hostess in her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years in 2000. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Ann; son, Martin; brothers, Merl, David and John; and sister, Jane Leet. She is survived by her son, Merl; daughters, Rhoda MacDonald and Mary Morgan and Lena Gipson; sisters, Marion Cuddeback, Elda Ruth Lorah, Pat Lorah and Peg Parcell; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
