Ernest Atkinson, 89, March 3 in Tyler. A graduate of Howard Payne University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he was a missionary 40 years with the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He was pastor of Spanish speaking congregations in Texas and Florida. He also served as professor, librarian and dean of the Mexican Baptist Bible Institute, where he retired in 1988 after 28 years. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha; daughters, Elena Petty and Becky Davis; and three grandchildren.
