Obituary: Ralph Henderson Langley

Ralph Langley, retired pastor and one of the original participants in the Youth-Led Revival Movement of the 1940s, died Jan. 13 in Huntsville, Ala. He was 94.

Ralph Henderson Langley, 94, died Jan. 13 in Huntsville, Ala. He served churches in Florida, Texas and Alabama 65 years. Born in Opelika, Ala., he attended Mars Hill College near Asheville, N.C. He completed his undergraduate degree at Baylor University and served on staff at Seventh & James Baptist Church in Waco. He was one of the original participants in the Youth-Led Revival movement in the 1940s. He earned a bachelor of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a master of divinity degree from Princeton Seminary before returning to Southwestern Seminary to earn his doctorate in theology. He was pastor of University Baptist Church in Coral Gables, Fla.; Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas; Willow Meadows Baptist Church in Houston; and as senior pastor, then pastor emeritus of First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Eula; daughter, Leanne Langley; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
