Obituary: Robert Joe “Bob” Potts

Robert Joe “Bob” Potts, retired Texas Baptist pastor and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship missionary, died Dec. 24 in San Antonio. He was 84.

Robert Joe “Bob” Potts, retired Texas Baptist pastor and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship missionary, died Dec. 24 in San Antonio. He was 84. Potts was born July 5, 1933, in Weslaco to Gordon and Edrine Potts. He was a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Potts was a Baptist pastor more than 40 years, including First Baptist Church in Corsicana from 1964 to 1973 and First Baptist Church in Columbus, Ga., from 1973 to 1995. He and his wife, Dorothy, served with CBF in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from early 1996 to 1998, where they worked with Rainbow Church, an English-Russian speaking congregation. Potts is survived by his wife of 62 years; two children, Robert Potts Jr., and his wife, Lana, of San Antonio, and Katherine Musgrove and her husband, JJ, of Columbia, Mo.; one granddaughter; and his brother, Alan Potts of Fort Worth.
