Obituary: Stanley P. Howard Jr.

Stanley P. Howard Jr. of Waco, retired Southern Baptist missionary to Japan, died July 12. He was 94. He was born Dec. 20, 1922, in Jefferson City, Mo. He earned degrees from Baylor University and Southwestern Theological Seminary. He married Patsy McGee of Kilgore, Sept. 5, 1948. After serving several churches in Texas, he and his wife were appointed to serve as missionaries to Japan by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in October 1949, arriving there in early January 1950. They served in Japan until December 1986, when they returned to Waco for a final furlough and then retirement beginning Jan. 1, 1988. He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Linda Bland and husband, Jim, of Waco; son, Stanley III and wife, Loan, of Tokyo, Japan; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
