Obituary: Terry Lee Bowman

Terry Lee Bowman, former Southern Baptist missionary and pastor, died Dec. 30 in Santo. He was 65.

Terry Lee Bowman, former Southern Baptist missionary and pastor, died Dec. 30 in Santo. He was 65. He was born Oct. 29, 1955, to J.D. and Virginia Bowman in Dallas. He was a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University. He also earned degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Luther Rice Seminary and Trinity Theological Seminary. He served 46 years in full-time ministry in various roles including recreation, youth, music and evangelism. He was a missionary to the Windward Islands and the pastor of churches in Magnolia, Giddings, Greenville, Wichita Falls, Lewisville and Patillo. He served as a trustee on the boards of several university Baptist Student Ministries, Baptist encampments and crisis pregnancy centers. He was involved in the planting and growth of more than 70 churches and missions in his years of ministry, many of which are thriving today. He led his churches in giving to support the International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Reggie Bowman. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lea Ann Bowman; daughter Amy Dovel and husband Matthew; son Jonathan Bowman and wife Jessica; daughter Ashley Williams and husband; eight grandchildren; and brothers Rodney and Ernie.
