Texas Tidbits: ETBU criminal justice program approved

ETBU approved to provide alternative training for peace officers. Students at East Texas Baptist University can now complete a bachelor’s degree and become a licensed peace officer with additional police academy training. etbu criminaljustice300The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement approved the ETBU criminal justice program as an academic alternative peace officer basic training provider—the only four-year institution and the only faith-based university awarding baccalaureate degrees that offers the alternative licensing program. ETBU already offered concentrations in public safety administration and offender rehabilitation.  Upon graduation, students completing this option immediately will be eligible to test for a basic Texas peace officer’s license.

Gift to Baylor funds Foster Campus boardroom. Baylor University received $1 million from the Carlton Family Foundation, led by Bill and Pat Carlton of Little Rock, Ark., that will create a boardroom in the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation. The Carlton Family Foundation Dean’s Boardroom, centrally located in the dean’s office suite, will seat up to 40 people and allow the administrative team managing the Hankamer School of Business to collaborate with on-campus groups and to interact with significant guests to the Baylor campus.
