The Baptist Standard Publishing Company is participating in North Texas Giving Tuesday Now on May 5, but not by receiving donations.

“When we received notice of the special North Texas Giving Tuesday fundraiser, we decided this time, we need to do our part to bring attention to other nonprofits,” Executive Director Eric Black said. “The decision was instant and unanimous, as was our excitement.”

North Texas Giving Day occurs each September. During the first week of April, however, the Communities Foundation of Texas announced a special fundraiser in response to economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent restrictions.

“Across the globe, communities are going the distance to come together to provide relief efforts for the COVID-19 pandemic,” the announcement read. “With many nonprofits seeing an increase in demand for critical services coupled with the cancellation of in-person fundraising opportunities, all charitable organizations, including North Texas nonprofit organizations are reeling from the devastating impact of this global health emergency.”

Early giving is open through May 4.

For the May 5 event, the Baptist Standard has brought specific attention to human welfare nonprofits participating in North Texas Giving Tuesday Now. These include Brother Bill’s Helping Hand, Christian Women’s Job Corps and Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex.

“While these are not the only nonprofits needing our help, these organizations are among those helping the most vulnerable among us,” Black said. “We are fortunate and need to be generous with them, using what God has given us to help them.”
