Center for Effective Leadership changes focus

DALLAS—Texas Baptists' Center for Effective Leadership is being "redirected" and "repurposed" to assist pastorless churches, Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Director David Hardage said.

"The new Center for Effective Leadership will focus on helping connect churches to pulpit supply, interims and quality candidates" for ministerial positions, Hardage explained.

The new direction requires new personnel, he added. Four staff members—two full-time and two part-time—are affected by the change.

The BGCT formed the Center for Effective Leadership in September 2009. At the time, the announced intention was for the center to become fully supported in a short time by money from sources other than the Cooperative Program, but that did not develop according to the original plan.

However, Hardage added, "Our receipts are strong, and I believe the future is bright."
