COLLEGE STATION—One hundred and seventy-five clients and staff from Children at Heart Ministries experienced an early Texas-style Christmas extravaganza at the Santa’s Wonderland holiday park.

cahm santastown300Before they entered the care of Children at Heart Ministries, some of the youngsters “never received a present, let alone had the opportunity to experience normal Christmas traditions,” said Brenda Gilbert, volunteer coordinator for Texas Baptist Children’s Home.

“Things like this are simply not in our budget but are such a blessing to our families, giving them the opportunity to create their own holiday memories,” she said.

The children and staff traveled from Round Rock to College Station to experience the festive holiday atmosphere and hayride through a trail of more than 3 million lights.

“The kids loved it. I loved it,” said Samantha, a Children at Heart Ministries Family Care mom. “We all had a great time and were in awe of the beautiful lights on the hayride.”

cahm kid320Smart Solutions Energy and Santa’s Wonderland co-sponsored the event for Children at Heart Ministries, providing hayrides, train rides, Santa visits, dinner and additional activities for families.

“We wanted to show our appreciation to CAHM and contribute in a small way to the good work they do for children every day,” said Melissa Lewis, vice president of marketing for Smart Solutions Energy and public relations director for Santa’s Wonderland.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to share the holiday spirit than to have CAHM families and children experience the lights and fun at Santa’s Wonderland.”

Children At Heart Ministries includes Texas Baptist Children’s Home in Round Rock, STARRY in Round Rock, Gracewood in Houston and Miracle Farm in Brenham.
