CLC honored for anti-gambling efforts

Leaders of Texans Against Gambling—the Texas chapter of the national Stop Predatory Gambling organization—presented a plaque to the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission expressing appreciation for the commission's longstanding support and its key role in resisting the expansion of gambling in Texas.

Texans Against Gambling representatives (left to right) John Thielepape, director of missions in Parker Baptist Association; Tom Wilbanks, former chairman of the TAG board and pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Mesquite; and Chairman Rodger Weems of Grand Prairie made the presentation to CLC Director Suzii Paynter; Weston Ware, retired director of citizenship and public policy for the CLC; and Rob Kohler, legislative consultant on gambling issues.
