BROWNWOOD—Howard Payne University has appointed a committee that includes trustees, along with faculty, staff, student body and alumni representatives to search for the school’s next president.

The newly appointed committee held its organizational meeting March 16, said Randall Grooms, chairman of the Howard Payne board of trustees. Grooms serves as an ex-officio member of the search committee.

Trustee Brad Helbert of Abilene will chair the search committee.

Other trustees on the committee are Kay Nettleship of San Saba and Gary Price and Leonard Underwood of Brownwood.

Faculty representatives on the search committee are Lynn Humeniuk of Brownwood and Rob Tucker of Bangs. Staff representatives are Glenda Huff and Bill Fishback of Brownwood.

Student Body President Tristan Summers and Trey Oakley of Waco, president of the Howard Payne Alumni Association board of directors also are on committee.

Members of the committee are open to recommendations from students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university, Grooms emphasized.

“Our committee chairman Brad Helbert is an exceptionally talented man,” Grooms said. “I have the utmost confidence that he and the committee will lead us to find the right candidate as quickly as possible, which is our objective.”
