Foundation awards grant for youth transition center. The Hal and Charlie Peterson Foundation has awarded Baptist Child & Family Services $125,000 to help build an expanded youth transition center in Kerrville. The current center, established six years ago, serves youth in foster care, as well as young people dealing with homelessness, substance abuse, poverty or unplanned pregnancies. The transition center brings together under one roof services such as counseling, case management, access to medical care, emergency housing assistance, life-skills training, literacy training, educational support and connections to employment and educational opportunities.
Luke named STCHM vice president. Kyle Luke has been named vice president of development and communications at South Texas Children’s Home Ministries. He began his new 
Kyle Lukeposition at Boothe Campus Aug. 5. Before joining STCHM, he served as administrator over the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes’ Panhandle area. Previously, he worked two years as North Florida director of development for Florida Baptist Children’s Homes. Luke earned his undergraduate degree from The Baptist College of Florida—where he later served as director of development—and a master’s degree in public administration from Florida State University, specializing in nonprofit management. He also served bivocationally as a minister of music 16 years. He and his wife, Cara, have three sons—Garet, 10; Grayson, 6; and Gabe, 3.
ETBU offers graduate business degree in entrepreneurial leadership. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges approved a master of business administration in entrepreneurial leadership degree program at East Texas Baptist University’s Fred M. Hale School of Business. Students will receive face-to-face instruction on campus enhanced with Web-based tools and hands-on training. The 33-hour graduate degree program is designed to integrate business theory and application. The curriculum includes students creating and developing their own business concepts and plans.
